Ava May is the kind of dog who makes every day a little funnier. With her little underbite and perpetually suspicious expression, she always looks like she either owes you money or is plotting something. It never fails to crack me up!

We adopted Ava May in 2019 when we built our home, and she quickly became the heart of our little family. She’s a mix of Husky, Australian Shepherd, and Blue Tick Coonhound, rescued through Australian Shepherds Furever. Her black and white coat is accented by the cutest spotted legs, which we lovingly call her “cookies and cream legs.”

While I adore her, the real love story is between Ava May and my husband. He wasn’t a huge dog person before, but she completely owns him now. It’s honestly hilarious to watch this man—who once claimed dogs were too much—be absolutely smitten. She gets away with everything, and I mean everything. If she wants a treat, she gets one. If she wants to stretch out across the entire bed, we move. Speaking of beds, we actually upgraded to a king-size just to make sure she could sleep comfortably with us. Yes, we bought a bigger bed for the dog. No regrets.

Ava May is a constant source of entertainment, snuggles, and occasional chaos. Whether she’s giving us her classic “I’m up to something” side-eye or curling up next to us at the end of a long day, life just wouldn’t be the same without her.
